Here’s one for the adventurous minded midlife man or woman. The guys at Secret Compass are planning an epic trek across the jungle, bush, mountains, rivers and plains of Northern Madagascar- completely on foot, from Coast to Coast, East to West.
Apparently this has never been done before, so it will be your chance to complete a world first! The expedition will take 3 weeks (give or take) from 12 May – 2 June. It will cost £2870 exc flights, a portion of which will be donated to a community project that replants trees in deforested areas on the island.
Be under no illusions, this will be a challenge, but that said, anyone with a reasonable level of fitness and a sense of adventure is welcome to apply. Those taking part will be traversing all sorts of terrain, encountering the famous wildlife and camping amid the trees. Parts of the route have never been explored, so there’ll be hacking through bush and jungle for at least part of the way as well as summiting the Islands highest peak en route….
The leader is ex-Para Lev Wood and Secret Compass have teamed up with Madagascar’s best and most knowledgeable guide, Gilles Gaultier who has led treks there for over 20 years, so you will be in safe hands.
There are only 8 places left and these will get snapped up pretty rapidly, so if you are interested then get in touch with them ASAP.
