Pursuing Suspended Dreams
It is disingenuous when people label anyone over 40 years of age as having ‘a mid-life crises’ when they take up a challenge or switch careers. A true mid-life crises is trying to recapture your youth or denial of the real you!
For the majority, we simply pursue those dreams and goals that we had to put on hold while ‘life got in the way’, career, family, etc. In later years we have the time and resources (and hopefully the health and energy) to pick up again those early yearnings. Mindful of time now being at a premium we can no longer put off such plans as we could in earlier years, so we ‘go for it’!
After nearly 40 years as an accountant, I semi-retired and started up Trek-Fit in order to pass on my extensive experience to others whilst making my passion my ‘job’!
The future! Who knows but strength and health permitting I still have dreams to pursue. I would like to sail on a tall ship, visit Patagonia, trek the GR11 in Spain, live life to the full!

For now I am doing a 64 mile event in April and a 100 mile event in May 2011 and possibly ‘The Trans Britain’ in September. When we get ‘too old to dream’ then we know ‘time’s up’ so always ‘stay old enough to know better but still young enough not to care’!
